A Brief History of STSDS
In 2009, Ms Alice Yap assumed ownership of Skills Point Sdn Bhd - Dance & Arts, renamed it Sole To Soul Dance Studio, and set out to create a studio that would provide a new home for teachers and dancers, in a warm friendly atmosphere that facilitates learning the art and skill of dance. In 2010, STSDS expanded to two studios, and the Junior and Senior dance companies were added to allow those gifted dancers the ability to excel without barriers.
This dream took the original 100 students to new heights and as a result STSDS now trains over 600 students each year. Each instructor was encouraged to contribute his or her personal style and expertise. Students enjoyed the convenience of attending one studio for diversified training rather than having to travel throughout the city. Our future direction will take us along many challenging, exciting and creative paths and our continuing expansion will enhance the training program by providing better opportunities for dancers, aspiring choreographers and the teachers of the future.
Our Philosophy
The philosophy behind the creation of STSDS was to make dance available to everyone, from the absolute beginner to the advanced and professional dancer. STSDS strives to foster creativity, cultural appreciation, self-confidence and a healthy and active lifestyle in students of all levels and ages by providing high quality dance education with an equal emphasis on technique. We stress the total development of each unique dancer and expose their talents that will enhance the direction of the shared goals and dreams of our dancers. Our goal is to make dance accessible to everyone, allowing them to experience the elements of dance: rhythm, groove, musicality, creativity, co-ordination, grace as well as for fun and health.
Our Diversity
STSDS is renowned for offering a comprehensive array of dance classes, workshops, master classes, and education outreach programs for children, teens, adults, and professional dancers under one roof. Each class is designed to make the experience of dance creative, meaningful, and fun for dancers of all ages and abilities. Our diversity in providing different types of dance styles as well as dance technique classes give our students the chance to pick up various types of dance, and enjoy them! STSDS currently has an enrollment close to 600 students annually and conducts over 60 classes each week including additional courses, private lessons and frequent workshops.
Our Faculty
One of the reasons for our fast-growing success as a leading performing arts school has much to do with its top notch faculty hand-picked by the principal with a keen eye toward individuals who may be entrusted with the ideals of the school. Classes are taught by highly qualified teachers that have the dance training and performance experience we require. Comprising more than 15 professionals, our faculty is fully committed to bring enthusiasm and love of dance together with technical expertise and experience to help students fulfill their potential and reach their goals in dance.
