We are committed in showcasing the work of the students of STSDS at our Biannual Dance Concert. The concert offers students a professionally directed performance that allows them to present to their family and friends the result of a year's hard work and dedication. This experience helps build self-esteem, self-assurance and provides that our students carry with them long after their dancing days are over. Our events are also used as platforms for students to gain experience in choreography and production. The information provided here will help us to continue to make our dance concert fun, stress free and enjoyable for all.
Concert Outlines
There are a lot of components involved in staging our Biannual Dance Concert. We ask that you carefully go over this information and if you have any questions please direct them to our front office. Participation in our Biannual Dance Concert is entirely optional. Students are automatically enrolled in the concert at registration. Please notify the office if the student is unable to participate in the concert when costume deposits are due.
Class Attendance | Class attendance is VERY IMPORTANT this time of year as the dancers prepare dances for the concert. Please make every effort to be at all classes! It is difficult to make up for lost time, and since the dancers are practicing in their formations, it is most helpful to have all members of the dance participating each week. Please remember that if a dancer does need to miss class, please call and let us know! |
Costumes | All costumes are tailored or purchased through professional catalogues. Costume deposits are due in May and balance due in July. In May students will be measured for their costumes in their class rooms. Please note that costumes are made to look great on stage and not made to stand up for everyday wear. Please do not wear costume before the concert day. |
Photography & Videotaping | Parents are invited to videotape and take pictures during the Dress Rehearsal. Photography and videotaping (except by the hired professionals) during the Concert will not be allowed. Please inform family members and friends of this policy – We appreciate your cooperation! |
Seating | Tickets will usually go on sale a month before the concert every year. All tickets are only sold through the front office. Tickets sell out fast so you want to get your tickets early. Tickets are sold up until show day. Everyone occupying a seat must purchase a ticket. Performers do not need a ticket. Parent volunteers will not have to purchase a ticket. |
Volunteers | Volunteer forms will be handed out in May. If you are interested in helping please fill out the form and return to the office. As a volunteer, you may still watch your dancer's number up close from the side of the stage. Volunteers are required to be at the dress rehearsals and the show day. |
Business Sponsors & Donations | Becoming a sponsor or a friend of STSDS is a great way to support the children and the arts in our community. If you own a business, it is a wonderful way to showcase your business to the packed audiences who attend our Biannual Dance Concert. We are also offering advertising spaces in our program which will go towards keeping the production cost down. It will also enable us to put on a much more spectacular performance. This will ensure that the concert remains affordable for everyone to attend. Money and donations from sponsorship and advertising will go towards the following: • Sound hire and equipments • Lighting hire and equipments • Labor costs associating with Sound and Lighting • Venue hire • Advertising and Printing costs • Props and stage sets We have various levels of sponsorship and advertising, and if there is something else you can help us with, we'd be delighted to hear from you. Concert sponsorship starts at RM500.
