Our progressive Courses provide a structured process that offers you an excellent learning and improvement opportunity. We put great effort into providing the right instructors, curriculum and atmosphere here at STSDS. In the Intro Series classes, you will be taught at a relatively slow pace to assist you in building up your confidence in dance in a small class environment. It is designed with the aim to take someone who has never danced before to a level, where you as the absolute novice can dance confidently and comfortably and join other dance classes.
Performing in the ANNUAL DANCE CONCERT is optional for Adults. It is fun and available for those who are interested!
Intro To Hip Hop I
This course is a eight week introductory program to Hip Hop. The class is designed to take someone who has never danced hip hop before to a level, where you as the absolute novice can dance confidently and comfortably and join other dance classes. Students will work on a basic understanding of hip hop movements and technique, helping develop basic grooving, isolations of the body and musicality.

Intro To Hip Hop II
Building upon the entry level Intro To Hip Hop I beginners foundation class, dancers will learn new ways of layering isolation, understanding rhythms, high energy, formations and transitions in Hip Hop. Simple combinations will be introduced, and a short choreography may be learned to apply the technique and information learned. On a given eight week session, a series of short choreographies will be taught, thus allowing students to expand their repertoire of movements.

Intro To Contemporary I
This course is a eight week introductory program to the fundamentals of Contemporary Dance. The emphasis is on technique, designed to build strength, technical development and movement confidence from which a dancer can grow. Students can also expect to improve balance, posture and alignment, through movement sequences and technical exercises that develop over the course period. This class is a pre-requisite for all other contemporary classes - technique or choreography.

Intro To Contemporary II & III
Building onto our Intro To Contemporary foundation class, this level will move a little faster and will introduce more traveling steps and challenging combinations with an emphasis on technique development and musicality. You will gain a better understanding of posture and alignment and learn longer movement sequences. Students may learn choreographed works, or they may be encouraged to improvise dance pieces.

Contemporary Choreography Series
The Contemporary Choreography Series run for eight weeks and consist of a one hour class per week. Each class includes a dance warm-up and a cool-down with toning stretches. This cumulative series gives dancers an introduction to contemporary choreography and routines combining the fundamental techniques of contemporary and other genres of dance such as jazz, lyrical, hip hop and more. Beginners and those with experience welcome.

This course is a eight week introductory program to the fundamentals of Belly Dance. Take a sensory journey deep into your body with us and discover the ancient art of belly dance! This class focuses on the basic movements, isolations and rhythms that apply to all forms of belly dance. The emphasis is on technique, building a strong foundation of movement from which a dancer can grow. This class is a pre-requisite for all other belly dance classes. People of all shapes, sizes and ages welcome. No experience necessary.
